Small Groups (Mid Week Bible Studies)
Our purpose is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth
and fellowship through weekly class-based and small groups held
in homes of church members.
Joining a Small Group
Small Groups offer a place to come together and grow in your knowledge and
love of God as you develop friendships with others. To participate in a
Class Small Group, just show up any time! These small groups are especially
convenient for people who are unable to attend every week due to travel or
work obligations. To join a Small Group, please check with your Sunday School Class.
Types of Small Groups
Summit Ministries offers three types of Small Groups.
(1) Koinonia
Home Teams is now being called “Koinonia” (coin-o-nia), meaning deeper Christian Fellowship. The main focus of Koinonia will be on Biblical community, with opportunity for growth in the area of spiritual disciplines (daily Bible reading, scripture memorization and prayer). For those interested in going deeper, Koinonia will offer tools to aid in Christian accountability. Summit desires that each Sunday bible Study class have their own Koinonia fellowship, but the option to combine classes is available if needed.
2) Doulos DOULOS Application
Doulos means "bond-servant of Christ". The main focus of Doulos is spiritual depth, with an emphasis on spiritual disciplines, accountability and Christian lifestyle, both corporate and personal. One unique change from the past, Doulos groups can take place within your class or in combined classes. Facilitators outside of Summit may also be available to you if interested.
3) Milestones More information
Simply stated, Milestones is a framework for how HFBC’s ministries and programs can better equip members of the body of Christ—from birth to adulthood—to take their unique place as part of a relevant biblical community. It’s a tool for taking God’s road map—the Bible—and applying its principles of spiritual development to nine seasons of life.

When my friend first asked me to come to the class home team,
I didn’t know what to expect. I’d been attending Sunday morning Bible
studies for a few months, but I still didn’t feel like I had found a
home yet. After the first week, I began to attend home team every
week, and I discovered it was a very laid back atmosphere where I could
get to know both God and my fellow classmates better. Since then, I have
felt at home, and I have become much more active in the class. God has
truly blessed me! - Paige Jamail |
